EO4SURE Presented at Terra em Foco 2026

EO4SURE participated in Terra em Foco 2026, Portugal’s national Earth Observation conference, held on 17–18 March 2026 at the University of Coimbra. Organised by the Portuguese Space Agency, the conference brought together researchers, public institutions, industry representatives and decision-makers to showcase the latest advances in Earth Observation applications, remote sensing and geospatial information.

EO4SURE contributed with two scientific posters, presented by Pedro Ribeiro (INDRA), highlighting the project’s progress in developing operational Earth Observation solutions to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) monitoring:

• Monitoring of SDG 6 indicators in Portugal and Denmark with EO-based algorithms
• Operational reporting of SDG 14.1.1 indicator in Portugal and Cabo Verde based on CMEMS data

The posters showcased EO4SURE’s work in developing operational algorithms that combine satellite observations with national datasets to support official SDG reporting. The first contribution focused on EO-based methodologies for monitoring SDG 6 indicators related to water stress and water-related ecosystems in Portugal and Denmark. The second presented the project’s approach to operationalising SDG 14.1.1, to support coastal eutrophication monitoring in Portugal and Cabo Verde.

Participation in Terra em Foco 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to present EO4SURE’s ongoing work to the Portuguese Earth Observation community, exchange experiences with researchers and practitioners, and strengthen links with organisations working on the operational use of satellite data for environmental monitoring and sustainable development.
